Vayikra

In this week Parsha, Parshat Vayikra, Hashem tells Moshe the measures Jews must follow if they commit a sin. However if a whole community or nation commits a sin together then their sins fall solely on the leader of that community or nation. Some may ask in what way is this fair? How is it that if everyone sins its only the leaders fault? People tend to follow or mimic anything that people that are in a leadership position do. For example children mimic what their parents do, so if they see that their parent is lying then they too will believe that lying is acceptable to do. So naturally anyone that is in a leadership position must be far more careful with their actions because you never know what character traits people may emulate because of you.
