In this week’s Parashah, Parashat Tetzaveh, Hashem says “and I shall meet there with Bnei Yisrael and I shall be made holy in My Glory”. Rav David Feinstein comments on this Pasuk, saying that the Mishkan had kedushah only because of the Shechinah of Hashem, which dwelt there. Beautiful and elegant as this structure was by itself, without the Shechinah it had no feeling of holiness. Rav Feinstein explains that when one builds a beautiful house, one can appreciate its beauty; but the four walls of a building cannot convey an atmosphere of holiness itself. When the Shechinah rests there, however, anyone who enters it feels the awe and astonishment, which are due to the Shechinah of Hashem. Even the Mishkan becomes holy only when it contains the Shechinah of Hashem. This teaches us that we must strive to instill an awareness of Hashem’s glory into all of our daily activities.
Shabbat Shalom,
